In this session:

You will learn how your company can minimize legal mistakes when entering the US market or otherwise doing business in the US. So many Canadian and Swedish companies continue to enter the US market because the US is still the largest buyer in the world and the opportunity for substantial profit exists.

The focus of the event will be on best legal practices in the US to minimize legal risk, tax liability, and strategies that offer the best chance to maximize profit. You will hear about some of the financial incentives offered by states to lure business. You will also learn about laws affecting distribution agreements with US distributors and independent contractors, which may vary the terms of your agreement. Additionally, learn about US legal risks, even if your company is only selling goods into the US without a physical presence (such as product liability).

You will also hear about the different types of legal entities to help you choose the right option for your business when expanding into the US, how to protect trademarks, and the major differences in treatment of employees in Canada and Sweden on the one hand and the US on the other hand. Learn about this and many other types of practical legal information when conducting business in the US.
