16 Jun The LCBO selects Swedish whisky from Mackmyra
LCBO, the Liquor Control Board of Ontario, Canada has selected Mackmyra Swedish Whisky as this year’s “Distillery Feature” and is buying four different bottlings to be launched in May.
Mackmyra will be the first distillery feature of the year at LCBO, which means they will buy
and jointly market several bottlings at the same time.
“It is of course an important milestone, for us and for Swedish whisky, when the world’s largest buyer of spirits chooses to buy Mackmyra. LCBO can select whisky from anywhere in the world and, demonstrably, we are more than holding our own in this competition,” says Rikard Lundborg, Mackmyra founder and marketing director.
“The whiskies being made at the Mackmyra distillery have grabbed the attention of whisky
enthusiasts, critics, and publications. At the LCBO, we run a specialty program within select locations wherein we feature award winning, artisanal, and niche whiskies from around the globe, and Mackmyra fits this profile perfectly and will be our first ‘Distillery Feature’ for 2012,” says Greg Tranah, Product Manager, Brown Spirits & Duty Free, LCBO.
LCBO has bought Mackmyra Whisky, Mackmyra The 1st Edition, Mackmyra Special:04, and Moment Medvind — whiskies that have all won gold medals in international whisky competitions. The whiskies will be launched in LCBO retail stores on the 12th of May and is the premiere for Mackmyra in Ontario.
“Mackmyra offers us the opportunity to experience its ‘terroir’. This concept, most strongly associated with wines, is thoroughly expressed in Mackmyra, and offers a totally unique taste experience”, says Mr. Tranah at the LCBO.
