2011 Chairman’s Message

Chairman’s Message

Dear SCCC Members and Friends,

On behalf of the SCCC Board of Directors, I would like to thank all of you for your ongoing support and interest in our Chamber. In the past year we have continued to evolve and make changes, and have successfully connected with our members, providing opportunities to enhance connections between Swedish and Canada Companies.

2011 Event Highlights

The SCCC was very active during 2011. In the New Year we launched our Nordic Lunch seminars, a continuation of our efforts at strengthening the collaboration between Nordic Chambers of Commerce in Canada that had gained momentum after the first Nordic Consular Golf Cup in 2010. This year, Sweden took home the Cup, and is looking forward to defending it again at 2012’s event Sept 6th.

We hosted or co-hosted 10 successful events in 2011, providing an impressive mix of gatherings in which our members could socialize, network and expand their global and local business environment.

Some other special mentions should go out to: The Chairman’s Ball; the Crayfish party, and; the VIP dinner with the Swedish Trade Minister. SCCC members were given special insights into the Canadian European Trade Agreement – the CETA negotiation – through invites to EUCOCIT events. The first Wallstreet event, a quarterly collaboration between the Swedish, Danish and Finnish Chambers and Trade Councils that brings together high profile political, financial and market experts, was held in November.

Our focus for 2012 will be to continue to increase the value that the SCCC brings to its members and to expand our membership base. We will also strengthen our Swedish Canadian Business community with other Swedish cultural and social organizations with which we already interact.
