Mr. Margulies has resided in Canada since 1982 and was prior to moving to Canada a partner in a Swedish tax advisory service.
Prior to leaving Sweden, he has co-authored books on buying and selling corporations, the new tax avoidance act and written extensively in tax journals on Swedish-international tax issues (all in Swedish).
After leaving for Canada he has authored a number of articles in a Swedish tax journal on the Swedish-UK tax treaty. The Swedes had to renegotiate the tax treaty as a result of the tax treaty interpretations published in these articles and a landmark case won in the Swedish high tax court.
Mr. Margulies has continued to specialize in international tax issues. Specifically, with either Sweden or the UK on one side and in some cases, with Canada on the other.
His clients are almost all residents in Europe.
Mr. Fraser and Mr. Margulies have collaborated successfully in a number of Sweden-Canada and UK-Canada issues with Fraser Tax Law managing the Canadian side of the planning.
James A. Fraser is a lawyer and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2007. Since graduating from U of T Law in 2006, he has practiced tax law in Toronto, and in 2014, launched his own boutique office, Fraser Tax Law. James specializes in international, corporate, personal and estate tax planning. This involves trust and estate planning, reorganizing corporate groups, cross-border structures and optimizing after-tax results on purchase and sale transactions.
James has extensive experience with individual residency and cross-border and offshore tax structures from a Canadian perspective. His background on Bay Street with a national Canadian firm provided a breadth of exposure beyond typical estate and corporate planning, which he now brings to bear for his clients.

KLAR Solutions is a consulting firm that specializes in the development of custom business apps. As businesses grow they often find themselves with scattered data sources that lead to inefficient processes. Data is often housed in various spreadsheets, software platforms and databases.
KLAR Solutions build robust data solutions that integrate current data with new, efficient methods of data entry. The solutions can be housed locally, or in the cloud for access via the web and mobile devices.
KLAR Solutions can also leverage mobile device functionality to capture signatures, scan bar codes, log location data or capture images from the field. Bringing all business data together in one platform reduces data entry errors and also allows for unprecedented abilities to gain insights into business processes.
KLAR Solutions develop their business apps using the FileMaker platform. FileMaker is a robust database platform with an incredible rapid development architecture. FileMaker is owned by Apple but works just as well on Windows. It has a 27-year history of innovative and secure database solutions.
The unique combination of proven, secure reliability with leading edge development tools, allows KLAR Solutions to create small prototype modules quickly and then build on them to create full-fledged solutions. There is no need to spend hours writing detailed specifications for software that may need to be changed before its even completed. We can start working through one small area at a time, trying various approaches until it works perfectly. This also allows businesses with limited budgets to solve one problem at a time without committing to a large investment up-front.
KLAR Solutions is owned and operated by Chris Andersson. Chris grew up outside Sundsvall in Sweden, son of a visionary plastics manufacturer. As a result, practical clean design is deeply embedded in the DNA of KLAR Solutions. We are also happy to develop bilingual Swedish / English solutions if needed.
